TOUR DE LAVENDER CYCLING EVENT
Online registration for the 2019 Tour de Lavender will start on February 1, 2019
This year’s Tour de Lavender, like the year before, started out cool and misty. But my late morning the mist had burned off and bright blue, sunny skies were the order of the day. 512 cyclists registered to ride this year, more than ever! And with 10 lavender farms to visit, and after-ride celebration party to attend, and the exceptional beauty of the Sequim-Dungeness Valley, the lovely fragrance of lavender gracing each stop, and the warm hospitality of the farmers and their staff, it was yet another “TdL” to remember.
We were fortunate to have 70 dedicated volunteers who, in aggregate, donated more than 1,000 hours helping to plan, organize, and run the event. Key partnerships with each of the participating farms, the City of Sequim, the Olympic Peninsula Visitor Bureau, the Boys & Girls Club, Ben’s Bikes, Brokers Realty Group, Safeway, Lagunitas Brewing, Grocery Outlet, Domino’s Pizza, Rainshadow Cafe and Rainshadow Coffee Roasters, among others, were also instrumental in making the event what we judge as a rousing success based on all the incredibly positive feedback we received throughout the day.
To all of you who rode this year (and those who signed up but didn’t make it to the ride itself): thank you! Once again this year, local non-profit organizations will be the beneficiaries of your participation. Over the past five years, more than $25,000 has been donated to such organizations from Tour de Lavender proceeds and we anticipate, based on our projected net profit, to add significantly to that total this year.
We think we made good on our promise to make this year’s Tour de Lavender the biggest and the “bestest” ever…and we’re going to do our best to make that happen again in 2019.
So mark your calendars: Saturday, August 3rd, 2019 is when we’ll hold our seventh Annual Tour de Lavender! We look forward to seeing you!
