Welcome to 2023

Last year with great Lavender Farm partners and incredible weather, the Peninsula Trails Coalition (PTC) first year operating the Tour de Lavender was a fantastic success! Once again the PTC will be working with Peninsula Adventure Sports, to plan and organize the Tour de Lavender.

This world-class cycling event here on the Olympic Peninsula will incorporate the newly renovated Railroad Bridge & Dungeness River Nature Center.
This adds to the  resources and expertise that will sustain and further the remarkable growth of the TdL over the past ten years and of Dan Abbott’s original vision of a unique, world-class cycling event right here on the Olympic Peninsula.

It is, I believe, eminently fitting and exciting that PTC and Peninsula Adventure Sports will usher in the second decade of the Tour de Lavender and celebrate an event that has brought cyclists from across the U.S. and around the world to experience the beauty of where we live, and to keep coming back year after year.

What’s new this year

Just to manage expectations…

  • TdL2023 will be in full swing this year! We expect to have over 900 riders this year.
  • We will have 7 or 8 farms to visit this year!
  • Look for updated routes that include the new Dungeness River Bridge renovation

Things can–and probably will–keep changing, so keep checking for updates on the latest!

Cyclists of all abilities will love it

As in previous years, the 2023 Tour de Lavender is one that will appeal to any cyclist, regardless of their experience.

The two signature courses remain pretty much the same, with only minor variation:

  • The METRIC CENTURY route, 62.5 miles that include some challenging hill climbing, is designed to give even expert cyclists a demanding workout—if they want it. With many farms to visit and a mid-way SAG stop to re-energize with snacks and beverages, however, it also affords even hard-core cyclists ample opportunity to “stop and smell the lavender” with a more relaxed pace.
  • The FUN RIDE is meant for cyclists interested in a casual, leisurely ride. For the family that rides together, it’s perfect. This route is over generally level terrain, most of it on the Olympic Discovery Trail, a paved, multi-use trail which is the “crown jewel” of the Peninsula’s scenic bikeways. The complete loop is 35 miles, and even beginner cyclists have, in the past, used this to chalk up a personal best or as a stepping stone to more demanding rides. Those opting for this ride have multiple options that enable them to find their “Goldilocks” distance and pace—not too hard, not too easy, not too far, not too short… Just right. This is the ride the kids will love!

It’s more than just a ride–it’s an Experience!
